I will be having my first ever Instagram sale this coming Sunday- July 24th. The sale will start at 9 am EST on my Instagram account @plumprettydecoranddesign.
This sale will feature a group of Farmhouse signs I hand painted on salvaged wood from an 1800's dresser. I first introduced these signs at the summer City Farmhouse Pop-up where I sold out completely. I had a little bit of the wood left so I have made up 7 more signs. Once these are gone that is it... no more salvaged 1800's dresser wood.
So here is a Blog exclusive sneak peek to the sale. These are the 7 signs that will be up for sale.
You might be wondering- salvaged 1800's dresser wood?? Well here is the story. I bought an late 1800's dresser in hopes of restoring it. But it was too far gone. I could not bring myself to simply throw it away so I salvaged what I could. I hammered apart the drawers and saved the wood and saved all the hardware.
The wood from the drawers was beautiful. You could see where the person who built it hand planed each piece. The character of each piece was not something you could replicate, this finish was one that is only achieved with time. Each piece was uniquely worn with time.
I decided to take these pieces and turn them into a piece of decor that would be displayed in peoples homes. That way pieces of that worn down dresser would live on in a new form of life. What I imagined was once in a farmhouse will now be a farmhouse sign in a families home.
The story behind a piece of furniture is what always pulls me in. I'm a sucker for a good story. Although I do not know the story behind the dresser I can only imagine. From the hats pins, sewing needles, and 1902 pennies I found in the drawers I can only imagine the treasures stored away in these drawers over the years. Now only the little nicks and scrapes in the wood remain after all these years.
Perfect for your farmhouse or your "farmhouse-made" home. So if you want a Farmhouse sign that has a story and is made from a piece of history check out the sale on my Instagram this Sunday. Also follow along for a special giveaway later this week!
With love,
*Each sign is hand painted with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint and sealed with Annie Sloan Waxes.
