So if you follow me on Instagram you know exactly what my living room looks like. You are probably wondering if its the only room in my home. Promise guys it's not! And sorry if I over share. I like to think my living room has a modern farmhouse look with a french flair. My living room is not magazine worthy or even finished, but it is a room I love. I would still like to add sliding doors with barn door hardware going into the sunroom and recover the chairs next to the windows. The doors will come when I finally find the perfect ones and the chairs- well when I have time to upholster them.
This room was not designed or decorated over night. It was a very long process- finding each piece that FIT, which became a challenge. Our living room is long and narrow with a very odd arrangement of door ways and openings. I decided to make the fireplace the focal point and went from there. I knew I wanted this room to be used when we had guest for a nice place to relax and have conversation. Oh and naps!- Not for guests but for me.
So over a 1 year span this room transformed into my little cozy french farmhouse living room. Which continues to transform as I add little things here and there. After all this room is collected not staged.
Many people ask me where I found each piece so here are all my living room sources:
My first purchase for this room was my console table; it's from World Market and you can find it here- World Market Everetts Console Table. It just so happened to fit perfectly on this wall. This wall just underwent a major remodel which you can read all about here- {Farmhouse Living Room Wall Makeover}.
Next was the two display cabinets that flank the fireplace. These were a birthday gift from my amazing husband. My birthday is in November, so this was... ohh 7 months after the console table. Still one of my favorite birthday presents of all time, just because he knew I had fallen in love with them after seeing them at Furnitureland South. These cabinets are made by Four Hands and are part of their Reclaimed Irish Coast Collection- here are some I found online- {Four Hands Irish Coast Display Cabinet}.
Then Santa brought my sofas. Actually, Austin had them freight delivered to me a few days before Christmas. Isn't he the best! Some girls want jewelry and flowers, I just want sofas, cabinets, rugs, lamps..... antiques..... oh and shiplap. These sofas are made by Baxton Studios and are called the Constanza Classic French Sofa. I searched forever for this style sofa that wasn't over 75" long, so they would fit my long narrow living room. - shop sofas here {Constanza Classic French Sofa}.
The rug came next. World Market item again! Yes, this rug sheds and we have a love/hate relationship, but I love the texture and warmth it adds to this space. And World Market has the best price on Jute Rugs I have found. I used the 9'x12' for this space which fit perfectly and really framed in my focal space. Shop the rug here- {World Market Natural Basket Weave Jute Rug}
Then finally came my lamps. I found these while shopping at Target one Friday night with some friends. You know you're getting "older" when Friday night double dates are at Target. The wood matched my console table, sofa frame, and display cabinets perfect. So those lovelies hopped right in my buggy. Funny how that happens at Target.. This lamp is no longer available in this style, with the wood washed finish, but here is a lamp thats very similar in style- {Target- Mudhut Turned Floor Lamp}.
Last major thing we did was upgrade from an 90s gold ceiling fan to this gorgeous chandy from World Market, find it here- {Wood Beaded Corinne Chandelier}.

Most of my decor in my living room are found items and items I offer at my antique "pop-up" shops. But here is just a little run down list of some of those things:
- Coffee Table- Found Old Wooden Chicken Coop
- Metal Arched Window on Fireplace- Old Brass mirror redesigned by yours truly

The main thing when decorating a space is that it's purposeful, functional and beautiful. Think about how the space will be used and pick items you know will form a purpose and function. My home is lived in! When guest come over pillows are moved (thrown in the floor majority of the time), drinks are place on tables/floors/rugs without coasters, chairs are scooted, and comfort is my main focus.
A space does not have to be magazine worthy or uncomfortable to be beautiful! For those who have asked about my living room I hope this answers all your questions and if not leave me a comment. I also hope I have inspired you to have a loving, purposeful, functional, and beautiful home.
With love,
