You know what guys? I never knew just how much I would love this weekly smoothie recipe share. I love creating these new recipes and it challenges me to not do the same smoothie over and over again in my daily routine. I try out a bunch of different recipes throughout the week to trying find one that is worthy of sharing. And a lot of the time I’m just trying to use up fruit and veggies that are about to go bad. And by luck sometimes the concoction I come up with is quite yummy.
This weeks smoothie is citrus based so a little tangy but still sweet. AND it’s a packed with vitamin C- perfect for leading up to flu season. As I’ve said this before but I can not begin to tell you all the nutrition and health benefits raw smoothies have. Majority of us don’t even reach 10% of our daily veggie, fruit, vitamins, and mineral recommendations. But smoothies make it so much easier to reach those numbers.
So let’s talk about whats in this smoothie and the benefits of each ingredient. Like I said before this is a citrus based smoothie and the main ingredients are fruit. Orange, lime, and peach. Oranges are high in vitamin C and help promote a healthy immune system. Lime is great for your skin, improves digestions, lowers blood sugar, and helps reduce inflammation. Peaches are naturally sweet and low in calories. They also are a great source for fiber and potassium. Peaches make you feel full and help prevent overeating. And the peaches provide the sweetness of this smoothie.
And for the veggies lots of kale and a little ginger root. Ginger root helps aid in digestion and is a powerful anti-inflammatory and antioxidant. And we all know kale is good for you. You can just look at it and know its good for the body. I’m honestly not a fan of kale unless its cooked or blended in a smoothie. You don’t even taste it blended with these other yummy ingredients.
So now that we’ve chatted about all the main ingredients (y’all know my other basics- almond milk & protein powder) here is the recipe:
